Recruitment
Applicants must undergo a basic literary test to be substantiated with a School Leaving Certificate to ensure that the applicant has attained a minimal educational level.
The prospective employee is then required to provide a Police Certificate of Good Character, and their employment history, as well as their antecedents, is verified by our own In-house investigators, who are required to verify the information submitted by the applicant, by personally visiting the applicants’ locale area with a view to determining the person’s character and associates.
These checks are conducted by retired, and in some instances active members of the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service, to ensure that persons being vetted are not associated with any known subversive or criminal activity. All applicants are required to undergo drug testing, and throughout their career with K9 Security Methods, random drug testing is also conducted to ensure that none of our staff are users of banned substances.
Having been positively vetted, the next stage that the applicant will undergo is our Basic Induction Training Program.

Our training is done over a ten (10) day period, and is coordinated and conducted by a cadre of In-house and external lecturers from the Police Training Academy and the Trinidad & Tobago Defence Force. Subjects covered in our Basic Induction Training are as follows:

Having undergone the Induction Programme, each participant must sit a written test and a minimum score of 70% must be attained by the candidate in order for him/her to be favourably considered for employment.
Thereafter he/she will be assigned to a location where they are required to undergo a mentoring period with more seasoned Security Officers who will provide guidance and instructions from a practical application. Our team of Project Managers and Field Supervisors also closely monitor this mentoring period to ensure that the recent graduate is meeting our expectations, and where necessary developmental needs will be identified to mark the individual’s progress.
On the job training (OJT) is usually conducted with the assistance of our Clients to ensure that our staff assigned to your location is totally familiar with the specific requirements of the location.
Supervision
Rosters, including standby officers, are prepared bi-monthly by the Administrative Sergeant which is then vetted and approved by the Operations Manager.
Our Control Room is staffed by a Duty Officer who maintains contact with all of our assignments on a 24-hour basis for periodic status reports. The Duty Officer is also responsible for dispatching standby officers and monitoring timely reliefs. The Control Room is the hub of our operations, and is responsible for coordinating response efforts to incidents out on our various assignments.
Our team of supervisors are geographically deployed on a 24 hour basis to conduct supervisory visits which are documented with the use of our Daily Supervisor’s Report. The Supervisor primarily in charge of that location is responsible for ensuring the day to day operations governing the location are performed at the highest standard. Weekly meetings are held with the Operations Manager where supervisors are required to submit a report on the status of their respective locations and suggestions for improvement where necessary.
On a monthly basis, site visits are also carried out by the Operations Manager to evaluate the efficiency and overall performance of the roles and functions required at each respective location.
The Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining an open line of communication with our Customer contact that is responsible for day-to-day security operations, to ensure that any operational issues can be addressed before they escalate into a major problem.
Any weakness or procedural deficiency observed by the Security Officer, Supervisor or Operations Manager is immediately addressed and corrected with the client’s consultation where necessary.
